My name is Brendon Smith, and I've lived in the Clutha District for my entire life. Married to Shelley, we have three daughters - Ruby, and twins Meg and Eva, who attend South Otago High School.
I have a diverse professional background, holding three trades: Butchery, Line Mechanics, and a National Certificate in Security. I spent 18 years as a Temporary Constable with New Zealand Police and 20 years volunteering with the Balclutha Fire Brigade. I also own South Otago Security Services, which has been running for 23 years.
As a former Emergency Management Advisor, I've been deployed to major events like the Christchurch Earthquake and the Pigeon Valley Fires. Most recently, I've worked as a Rural Tank Inspector for the Three Waters programme.
I'm committed to a collaborative, community focused approach to local government. If elected, I'll advocate for stronger community connections, improved infrastructure, and support for local businesses.
