The Clutha District has important heritage features, which help define a sense of who we are and where we have come from. They include our heritage buildings – from commercial and industrial, through to residential buildings both grand and modest. Our heritage also includes important archaeological sites and places of cultural significance for tangata whenua, historic monuments, parks, gardens, churches and museums.
Clutha District Council’s Heritage Toolbox is designed to provide useful information to assist owners and supporters to understand their responsibilities in relation to and support the maintenance and protection of heritage buildings and sites in the Clutha District.
We believe it is important to protect Clutha District’s valuable heritage. They give our region a sense of place and help to tell our stories. We hope that this Toolbox helps you on your journey to help preserve and maintain Clutha District’s Heritage.
We are also in the process of developing a dedicated page for the Heritage Toolbox, which will contain all the information in this document and aims to be user friendly and easy to navigate. We also intend to update the Toolbox when necessary with additional information and useful updates.
Clutha District Council acknowledges the work by GHC Consulting Limited in producing this Toolbox.
