Background Information
Council began preparing the Our Place Lawrence-Tuapeka Community Plan in early 2020. We consulted widely with the public in February and March, attending local events, and holding drop-in sessions. We also met with community groups and other stakeholders which operate in the Lawrence-Tuapeka area. Covid-19 restrictions meant we had to delay the consultation program, and we finally wrapped it up with a community workshop in October 2020.
The Community Plan will help determine the projects and priorities for this community and help put Council's Living and Working and Economic Development strategies into action. It will focus on what Council can do with our key facilities and how we can work with the community to make things happen.
We want this Community Plan to act as a catalyst, creating positive flow-on effects throughout Lawrence-Tuapeka and the wider district. We want to strengthen and build community partnerships that will help us all to create positive reasons to live and work in Lawrence-Tuapeka.
Along with the development of the Community Plan, Council will also prepare a Lawrence-Tuapeka Reserves Management Plan (RMP) in 2021. The feedback we received relating to local parks, reserves and cemeteries will help to inform this RMP.
