Clutha District Council will be undertaking soiling and levelling work along the Hospital Creek Embankment, in order to level out the track for accessibility.
Council will erect fencing at each side of the affected area as highlighted in blue and red on the map below, temporarily closing public access between Hospital Road and the Blair Athol Walkway.
For safety reasons, the accessway must be closed and Council asks that the public do not enter the closed-off area during this period.
The work will begin on Monday 18 March 2024, and is expected to take approximately one week. The accessway will be reopened once the new soil has been laid and rolled.
Access to the Blair Athol Walkway will remain open at the entrance point at the Balclutha Road Bridge, behind Te Pou ō Mata-Au Clutha District War Memorial and Community Centre, or through Naish Park on Charlotte Street, via the step bridge.
Dog owners are reminded that dogs should remain on a lead at all times when in Naish Park and on the Blair Athol Walkway.
The operation area will be clearly signposted with information signs in place.
Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this work, please contact Council on 0800 801 350.
