Council is offering 11 new but damaged 30 m³ plastic water storage tanks for sale by silent auction.
The tanks were recovered from the Pomahaka and Owaka Reservoir sites after being impacted and damaged during the extreme weather and wind event in October 2025.
The tanks are being sold as is, where is.
This means they may have damage, faults, deterioration, missing parts, or other issues that are known or unknown.
Council does not provide any warranty or guarantee about their condition, performance, structural integrity, suitability, or whether they are watertight or suitable for water storage.
Anyone interested in bidding is encouraged to inspect the tanks first and make their own assessment before submitting a bid.
If your bid is successful, you will be responsible for all costs and arrangements to collect and remove the tank, including any contractors, lifting equipment, transport, permits, loading, and health and safety requirements.
Clutha District Council will not provide labour, equipment, transport, or supervision for removal. Council is not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, costs, or future issues connected with inspecting, removing, transporting, repairing, modifying, or using the tanks.
Payment and collection must be completed before ownership and risk transfer to the successful purchaser. Council also reserves the right to withdraw any tank from sale, reject any bid, or change or cancel the auction process at its discretion.

The auction closes on 24 September 2026 at 4.30pm.
Successful bidders will be notified by or before 4.30 pm on 28 September 2026. Following this, the preferred bidder will receive an invoice by 29 September 2026, and payment must be made immediately.
