​Physical construction work resumes on Milton project

Physical construction work is resuming on our Union Street/State Highway 1 wastewater and stormwater renewal project in Milton on 31 August 2026.

Contractor Andrew Haulage will be installing the new sewer line on Park Road. This work needs to be completed before the asphalt works on Union Street can begin. The work is expected to take about one week.

Once this work is finished, and subject to weather conditions and ground temperatures, Fulton Hogan will focus on milling and asphalting State Highway 1.

This work will be completed in two stages.

The first stage will involve milling from the southern end up to the Duthie Street intersection, and then from the Duthie Street intersection to the northern end near Park Road.

Once the milling is complete, asphalting can begin.

After all this work is completed, the detour on Centennial Avenue can be removed.

Drainage work is continuing on Park Road and Melville Avenue. Once this work is complete, the project will move to Melville Avenue for the remaining stormwater and sewer works. Contractors are expected to be onsite until October 2026.

The pavement work on Union Street is in its final stage. Drainage works on Park Road are expected to finish in early September, bringing the drainage component of the project to nearly 90% completion, with the remaining 10% to be completed on Melville Avenue.

While this has been a long project for residents, businesses, and travellers, it is an important investment in Milton to replace critical infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life.

This project is focused on improving services and futureproofing the township for years to come.
