Summer Reading Bingo set to inspire tamariki this summer
Clutha District Libraries are excited to launch Summer Reading Bingo, a fun and engaging holiday challenge designed to keep tamariki reading, discovering, and learning all summer long.
From 1 December 2025, children of all ages can register at any Clutha District Library and collect their Summer Reading Bingo card. The challenge will run through to 6 February 2026.
Summer Reading Bingo encourages young readers to complete a variety of activities related to reading, literacy, and local history. Each completed activity helps them work toward “bingo,” with plenty of rewards along the way.
- Halfway Prize: Earned by completing any cross on the bingo card.
- Bingo Prize: Children who complete the entire card receive a free book.
- Grand Prize Draw: All participants who achieve bingo go into the draw for a major prize.
- Bonus Entry: Completing a short feedback form earns an extra entry into the draw.
For tamariki wanting an extra challenge, two specialised cards are available:
- Vacationer Card – an easier challenge
- Explorer Card – a harder challenge
Children may complete one or both.
Clutha District Libraries also acknowledged the support of this year’s Clutha sponsors, Inner Wheel and the Rotary Club.
