First instalment of rates sent today for the 2025/26 year

The first instalment of rates for the 2025/26 year have been sent out this morning.

If we hold an email address on file for you, you have likely received your rates instalment by email. Please check your spam folder just in case it has made its way there. Paper copies will follow in the post soon for anyone we do not hold an email for and those who have elected to receive rates by post.

We appreciate that the rates increase for the coming year may come as unexpected. A major factor in this years rates increase is Council’s three water activity. Unfortunately, water operations and capital have been underbudgeted in previous years, and the overall increases in costs to reach compliance that have occurred in the past 24 months have also been a factor in the rates increase. Costs of supply also have a ripple effect on the expenditure for Council’s overall operations.

Council has recently switched to its upgraded Finance IT system and this is the first round of rates instalments that have been sent out using the new system. Switching to a new system can come with challenges and we appreciate your support and understanding during this process.
