NOTICE OF ELECTION, NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES AND CLOSING DATE FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2025 ELECTIONS OF CLUTHA DISTRICT COUNCIL AND CLUTHA LICENSING TRUST

Under sections 52 and 53 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, I give notice that on Saturday 11 October 2025 the following elections will be held by postal vote under the First Past the Post electoral system:

CLUTHA DISTRICT COUNCIL

Mayor

• Election of mayor

Wards

• Election of two councillors for the Balclutha Ward
• Election of one councillor for the Bruce-Waihola Ward
• Election of one councillor for the Catlins Ward
• Election of one councillor for the Clinton-Clydevale Ward
• Election of one councillor for the Kaitangata-Matau Ward
• Election of one councillor for the Lawrence-Tuapeka Ward
• Election of one councillor for the Milton Ward
• Election of one councillor for the West Otago Ward

Community Board

• Election of six members for the Lawrence-Tuapeka Community Board
• Election of six members for the West Otago Community Board

Candidate names will be listed in alphabetical order on the voting documents.

CLUTHA LICENSING TRUST

• Election of five members for the Clutha Licensing Trust

Candidate names will be listed in alphabetical order on the voting documents.

NOMINATIONS

Each candidate must be nominated on the appropriate nomination paper. Candidates can complete and submit their nomination online at esp.electionservices.co.nzfor Clutha District Council and at esp.electionservices.co.nz for Clutha Licensing Trust.

Printed nomination forms are also available during normal business hours from Friday 4 July 2025 at:

• TPŌMA - Clutha isite Visitor Information Centre, 6 Clyde Street, Balclutha
• by accessing www.cluthadc.govt.nz
• by phoning the electoral office on 0800 922 822

Nominations of candidates must be in the hands of the electoral officer or an electoral official at the electoral office or one of the above locations no later than midday on Friday 1 August 2025.

Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 GST inclusive (payable by bank transfer, eftpos or cash).

A candidate may submit a candidate profile statement with their nomination paper. The candidate profile statement will then be included with the voting document and sent out to electors.

An attachment to the nomination paper outlines rules and procedures governing candidate profile statements. The same information also appears in the online nominations portal.

ELECTORAL ROLL

The electoral roll to be used for this election closes on Friday 1 August 2025 and can be inspected during normal business hours from Friday 4 July 2025 at the above locations.

Enrolment for inclusion on the Residents Electoral Roll is conducted through the Electoral Commission.

Applications for enrolment should be made by:

• accessing www.vote.nz
• phoning 0800 36 76 56

Enrolment for inclusion on the Ratepayers Electoral Roll is conducted through the electoral office of the Clutha District Council.

Applications for enrolment should be made on the prescribed form at the above locations, www.ratepayer.co.nz, www.cluthadc.govt.nzor by phoning 0800 922 822.

Following closure of the roll, the electoral officer may, on application of any person who is or claims to be entitled to be enrolled or any other person or otherwise, make any necessary corrections to the names, addresses, abbreviations or marks appearing in the electoral roll.
