​Compliance order on Milton Water Treatment Plant revoked April 2025

Taumata Arowai issued Clutha District Council with a Compliance Order for the Milton Water Treatment Plant in November 2023. The order was issued under section 123 of the Water Services Act 2021 and was the first such order issued by the Authority since forming.

The order was issued following an audit undertaken in mid-2023. Nine targeted areas for improvement were outlined in the order, including monitoring, recording and record keeping, and treatment barrier concerns. Staff worked progressively to meet each targeted area of improvement and achieve compliance by the final deadline of January 2025.

In a letter dated 17 April 2025, Taumata Arowai acknowledged and commended the efforts taken by Clutha DC to meet the requirements of the order. This letter was accompanied by an official revocation of the compliance order.
