Clutha District Council’s contractor Downer will be carrying out work on Bridge 174 Gray Road, Waitepeka from 19 October to 20 November 2026.
Structural repairs will be made to the retaining walls, along with bank stabilisation, guard rail and road repairs. The repairs are necessary because of damage from the 2024 October weather event. See photo.
A detour will be in place around Waitepeka Road, 7am to 5.30pm weekdays Monday to Friday during the work period. The road will be open over weekends.

Access: If you require urgent access to or from your property while work is being undertaken at the bridge, please talk to the onsite foreperson and they will be happy to help you; however, there may be delays as equipment is moved but we recommend using the detour unless it’s an emergency.
