Access to Waiwera South township via Waiwera Station Road will be temporarily closed for rail crossing reinstatement work on 7 September 2026.
The closure is between Kaihiku Road and Allan Street (see map below).
This work is expected to take a full day, weather depending. A 15-minute detour will be in place (see map - route marked in blue).
Waiwera Station Road is the main access off State Highway 1, so we appreciate this is a significant disruption for residents.
This is the final stage of this repair and upgrade work on the rail crossing, the first stage having been completed between 21-23 August.
Emergency services have been notified of this closure and will have full access at all times.
