Tuapeka West - Boil Water Reminder
Consumers on the Tuapeka West Rural Water Scheme are reminded that a boil water notice is in place.
About the boil water notice
This scheme is on a long-term boil water notice until the new Greenfield Water Scheme Project is commissioned, due to problems with treatment at the plant which are affecting the quality of treated water.
Anyone using water from their tap for consumption (including teeth cleaning and food preparation such as washing fruit and vegetables) should boil it for 1 minute before it is used.
Improvements to address the issues will require significant investment and the notice will not be lifted until this water treatment plant is decommissioned, when water will instead come from the new Greenfield Water Scheme Project. This is expected to be in late 2024.
