Under Level 2 Clutha District Libraries will be able to resume supplying books to our borrowers.
However, the libraries will not be operating as normal just yet. As a first stage, all libraries will be operating limited hours and limited services howver to help out borrowers we are introducing contactless My Book Parcel.
To order books you can fill in the appropriate click and collect online forms listed below and email it to us (firstname.lastname@example.org) or ring us and we will take your details. The library phone numbers are below.
We will select books by the genres you like, or wish to try. We can add in some cooking books, or a history of New Zealand, a few magazines, maybe a DVD – you let us know what you want, and we will do our very best to supply items you will enjoy.
Once we have your items, we will ring or email you, and you can come to the front of the library to collect them.
We won’t be open to the public for our normal hours just yet: all staff will be busy selecting Book Parcels!
How does this system work?
Ring or email your local library and someone will take details of your reading preferences, including specific books you want. We will do our best to select books you will enjoy. We may supply more than you ask for, so don’t feel you have to read them all!
When we have your selection ready, we will let you know and you can come to the library to collect them in our open hours. Please bring your own bag to put them into.
What about books I have reserved?
This will work as normal. When your name comes to the top of the list, we will ring or email you and arrange for you to come and collect the book.
What safety measures do you have in place?
Library staff will be maintaining strict hand hygiene when handling books. All returned books are currently quarantined for three days. When we select your books and parcel them up we will use gloves, and dispose of them between selections.
Customers cannot come into the library itself. One staff member will be at the door, to help you collect your parcel and to take your details for contact tracing.
How long will my books be issued for?
In the first few weeks of this system we will keep up our “long loans”. Books will be issued for 6 weeks. They can then be renewed, if no-one has reserved them.
Can I return my books?
Yes you can. Please put them through the library returns slot. If you are coming to collect ordered books you can bring them with you. At the collection area we will have a box for you to drop them into.
I am over 65 and do not want to leave home. Can I still get some books?
You can! Ring your local library, and someone will take the details of what you like to read. If you have someone who can collect the books for you, let us know their name and we will contact them when the books are ready. If not, we can make a contactless delivery to you.
