We received some fantastic feedback and project ideas in February and March on the Lawrence – Tuapeka Community Plan. Once completed, the Plan will list a series of key projects, intended to promote living and working in this area. The consultation program was interrupted due to Covid-19, but we’re coming back to confirm what you told us, and make sure everyone has an opportunity to get involved and have their say. The updated program is available below.
A summary of feedback received to date is also available through the link below.
The Clutha District Council decided to postpone the last few public consultation events for Our Place Lawrence – Tuapeka, due to concerns over the Covid-19 outbreak.
In the meantime, we will look closely at the great community feedback we’ve already received, and provide this in a summarised format on Council’s website. We have also extended the period for providing online feedback, using
It is likely that the development of the Community Plan will be delayed, with the actual timeframe to be determined. But be assured that Council will be back to engage with the community, including through a public workshop, as soon as we possible.
Council is preparing the Our Place Lawrence-Tuapeka Community Plan and we will be consulting widely with the public in February-March 2020, attending community events, and holding drop-in sessions. We are also keen to hear from community groups and other stakeholders which operate in the Lawrence-Tuapeka area.
The Community Plan will help determine the projects and priorities for this community, and help put Council's Living and Working and Economic Development strategies into action. The ideas centre on what Council can do with our key facilities and how we can work with the community to make things happen.
We want this Community Plan to act as a catalyst, creating positive flow-on effects throughout Lawrence-Tuapeka and the wider district. We want to strengthen and build community partnerships that will help us all to create positive reasons to live and work in Lawrence-Tuapeka.
Along with the development of the Community Plan, Council will also prepare a Lawrence-Tuapeka Reserves Management Plan (RMP) this year. Comments which relate specifically to local parks, reserves and cemeteries will help to inform this RMP.
