The Clutha District Council has awarded a $4 million annual contract to City Care Water to manage the district’s water supply, stormwater, wastewater and support for aquatics in Balclutha and Milton.
Clutha District Council Operations Manager Gareth Phillips said the Christchurch based contractor offered superior service in customer care, improved administration and integration with Council’s electronic systems.
“City Care Water offer services that intelligently monitor the water networks and help identify leaks and damaged pipes which is of high priority to the Clutha District.
“Its electronic management system integrates with Council’s asset management, customer care and GIS (mapping) programmes so the integration will be seamless,” Mr Phillips said.
Mr Phillips said the $4 million annual contract was also on budget.
It will begin on 1 July 2019 and a transition plan would soon be initiated to ensure a smooth handover.
“The initial contract is for five years with the opportunity to extend assuming good performance by the contractor.”
