A Civic Remembrance will be held at the Balclutha War Memorial Hall on Thursday, March 28 to enable our District to join as one to pay our respects to the victims of the Christchurch mosque tragedy and join with the local Muslim community as they mourn the loss of one of their own.

Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan said the event would start at 7pm and would give the District the opportunity to share in a time of reflection.

“I invite the community to come for a time of contemplation, to mourn and show our respects and collective support for our Muslim friends.”

Mayor Cadogan said at the event people were invited to lay flowers and tributes at the Hall entrance should they wish to.

A condolence book will also be available for people to sign.

“As a Nation we are united in our grief, and steadfastly determined to show through tolerance, understanding, and goodwill to our fellow human being, that love will prevail.”

Ends.
