Steve Hill, Clutha District Council’s current Chief Executive has been reappointed to the role for a five year term.

Mayor Bryan Cadogan said after a rigorous recruitment process Council agreed at its meeting last night to reappoint Steve to continue his strong and supportive leadership of the staff.

“Council was determined to test the market to the full extent and after a detailed and genuine process we have secured the candidate who we have the most confidence in and we are thrilled to announce the reappointment of Mr Steve Hill for a further five years.”

Steve, who was appointed in 2014 for a term of five years, opted to not to take the “right of extension” for a further two years by council approval, in favour of reapplying for the role for a five year term.

The external recruitment process began with the job advertised in September 2018.

Mayor Cadogan said Council followed a careful process for the recruitment via an external consultant and there was good interest from a range of applicants.

“This appointment reaffirms the extremely good performance of Steve’s first five year tenure and Council looks forward to continuing the positive momentum for the coming years.”

Steve’s current term expires on 9 June 2019, and his next five years commences on 10 June.
