Work continues on Milton project

As we head into the weekend, here’s a quick update on the Union Street/State Highway 1 wastewater and stormwater renewal project in Milton and what’s coming up next.

During the past couple of weeks, the project team has completed a number of important behind-the-scenes and underground works, including water testing on sewer manholes, CCTV checks, lateral connections, work on the Elizabeth Street sump connection, and repairs on Centennial Avenue.

Some repaired areas on Centennial Avenue have been left as gravel for now, as further work is planned there in coming weeks.

The team is also continuing to work closely with our stakeholders to confirm the repair approach for State Highway 1, so the next stages can move ahead safely and in the right way.

During the next few weeks, drainage work is expected to begin on Park Road and Melville Avenue, helping to close out the final drainage works for the project.

Subject to weather conditions and ground temperatures, the team also expects to begin milling and asphalting State Highway 1.

Once this work is complete, the detour on Centennial Avenue can be removed.

We know this has been a long and disruptive project for residents, businesses and people travelling through the area.
