​Recycle right to keep your transfer stations open

Residents can recycle clean paper, cardboard, plastics 1, 2 and 5, and aluminium and tin cans at transfer stations in Clinton, Lawrence, Milton, Ōwaka and Tapanui.

Glass and plastic lids are not accepted, so please leave them out to help avoid contamination.

The Milton Transfer Station as of 9 June is now on its second strike warning because glass was put in the yellow-lidded bins.

These sites operate under a three-strike system, and if a station receives three strikes for misuse or contamination, it may have to close.

Glass recycling for the District is being looked at for the future, but it is not expected to be available until 2027.
