Milton Community Library to be relocated soon
Milton Coronation Hall - the temporary home for the town's community library.
The Milton Community Library will soon be relocating to the Coronation Hall on Union Street, Milton.
The community library will have its final day at the current location on Friday, 21 November. This will be followed by a short closure period of one week, while staff prepare the new temporary site.
The Milton library will be closed from Monday 24 to Friday 28 November, reopening on Monday 1 December at the new location within Coronation Hall, as part of preparations for the Elsie Stewart Community Library & Pool build project.
Opening hours would remain the same, and visitors could look forward to the same friendly service at the new temporary site, Clutha District Libraries Manager, Melissa Ellison, said. While the library collections will be reduced in size, the full catalogue will remain available, and staff will be on hand to assist with obtaining items from other branches.
She encouraged readers to visit the library before the big move and stock up on books.
“There is no limit on borrowing during this time, and it is also a great opportunity to chat with staff and find out more about our free online resources, including e-books and audiobooks. These can be accessed anytime, including the week that the library will be closed.”
A short presentation on using the Clutha District Libraries mobile app and the Antenno app will be held at the Milton Library on Thursday 20 November at 10.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn how to make the most of these digital tools.
Book returns will be accepted through the returns slot at the current library site until 5pm on Friday 28 November. The slot will be closed after this time. Any books due during the closure week will be automatically extended until 10 December.

When the Community Library reopens at its new location on Monday 1 December, visitors will have access to off-street parking at the rear of the Coronation Hall (access via Spenser Street), as well as street parking.
