From 1 October 2024, Council’s building consent customers will be able to apply for consents through Objective Build, a new online service which will allow consistency, transparency, and quality in Clutha District Council’s building applications.
The Objective Build system has been built after interviews with over a hundred builders, architects, designers, and industry professionals across New Zealand to ensure it meets their needs. It improves the ability to reuse information across applications, clearly see the status of an application, action required updates, and manage a consent throughout the lifecycle.
Clutha District Council Building and Regulatory Services Manager, Malcolm Sinclair, says that the new online system will provide better transparency and more functionality than our current processes, helping to streamline the building consent process from start to finish.
“Objective Build is already being used by many Councils across New Zealand”, said Mr Sinclair.
“The new system will make applying for and managing building consents consistent, transparent and efficient. Customers will be able to apply for new consents online and will have real time access to application and consent documents, as well as progress updates, within a central, easily-accessible online hub.”
Key features of Objective Build include simplified and consistent application processes for building consents, Code Compliance Certificates (CCC), Certificates of Acceptance (COA) and Project Information Memorandums (PIM), collaboration and sharing functionality to ensure all organisations and customers have access to the information they need, as well as status tracking and update abilities.
Many building and construction industry professionals may already use an Objective Build account to handle their applications, which will assist in streamlining their business processes. Those that are unfamiliar with Objective Build are invited to visit our website and read our Frequently Asked Questions about the new system.
Clutha District Council has also engaged Objective Build representatives to host an information evening for local customers and building or construction professionals who are interested in learning more about Objective Build. This will be held at Clutha District Council’s Rosebank office, 1 Rosebank Terrace, Balclutha, on Wednesday, 9 October 5pm to 6pm. Contractors, agents and members of the public are welcome to attend.
