Registrations open for Clutha libraries summer reading challenge
Registrations open on Thursday (December 1, 2022) for the Clutha District Libraries Summer Reading Challenge.
Designed to encourage and promote reading, this year’s theme is Bookopoly!
This year’s Bookopoly themed programme has something for everyone, so whole families can enjoy participating together.
Clutha District Council Community Libraries Manager Debbie Duncan said although the Summer Reading Challenge focused on encouraging children to continue to read over the school holidays, it had a variety of fun challenges for all ages and abilities.
“It will be a fun game with plenty of plot twists. Seeing the smiles and sharing the enjoyment of the summer reading participants is always a highlight of the year for our community library teams throughout the Clutha District.”
Registrations open on 1 December for adults, teens and children, with challenges starting on 16 December.
You can complete multiple reading challenge cards and for your efforts you can win prizes including swim and book vouchers.
“Once again, we wish to thank Inner Wheel NZ, Balclutha and the Rotary Club of Balclutha for their generous support of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.”
The books people can read can come from anywhere: home, school or library and the type of reading material is up to the individual.
Participants will receive a board, start on the tile marked READ and work their way around the board, reading, listening and participating in the activities.
People can register online at libraries.cluthadc.govt.nz, by phoning 03 418 1677 or in person at any Clutha District library.
