New Clutha District Council sworn in at inaugural meeting
Mayor Bryan Cadogan, sworn in for his fifth term as Clutha District Mayor, says “An exciting and challenging triennium lies ahead of us. It will inevitably be definitive for the future vitality of the district, with so many challenges and a number of significant projects coming to fruition.”
“Welcome to our new councillors and congratulations to all councillors on their successful election.”
Councillors Wayne Felts, Alison Ludemann, John Herbert, Bruce Graham, Dane Catherwood, Gaynor Finch, Bruce Vollweiler and Ken Payne were sworn in to their seats from the last triennium. While former councillor Michele Kennedy was sworn in to her previously held West Otago seat.
Five new councillors join the Council for the new triennium. Councillors Simon McAtamney, Brent Mackie, Dean McCrostie and Kevin Barron were sworn in last night, Jock Martin was unable to attend and will be sworn in at a future meeting.
Mayor Cadogan appointed the role of Deputy Mayor to Cr Payne, who was first elected to Council in 2012.
Committee chairs have also been appointed:
Corporate & Property Committee Chair – Cr Ludemann
Service Delivery Committee Chair – Cr Graham
Regulatory & Policy Committee Chair – Cr Finch
Committee of the Whole – Mayor Cadogan
