Access to Waiwera South township via Waiwera Station Road will be temporarily closed for rail crossing work during 21-23 August 2026.
The closure is between Kaihiku Road and Allan Street in the town from 7am Friday, 21 August to 7pm Sunday, 23 August (see map below).
A 15-minute detour will be in place (see map - route marked in blue).
Waiwera Station Road is the main access off State Highway 1, so we appreciate this is a significant disruption for residents.
Repair and upgrade of the rail crossing is being undertaken in two stages.
The second stage of the project, being asphalt reinstatement, will be completed by mid September. Additional closure dates for this next stage will be advised in due course.
Emergency services have been notified of this closure and will have full access at all times.
