Scheduled power outages - Owaka, 3 & 20 August
Routine maintenance work to the power network is to be carried out in Ōwaka in August.
The first outage is on Monday, 3 August 2026 from 9.30pm to 11.30pm.
A further outage is planned for Thursday, 20 August from 9am to 3.30pm. This will impact on the following Council facilities:
- Ōwaka Community Library and Catlins Visitor Information Centre will be closed for the day.
- Ōwaka public toilets on Waikawa Road will be closed 9am to 3.30pm.
- Ōwaka Community Centre will be closed for the day.
Please be aware that PowerNet is carrying out pole replacement work on Monday, 17 August which will result in a temporary road closure - see notice in alerts: Temporary Road Closure - Burns Street, Owaka - 17 August 2026 - Clutha District Council.
Both outages will affect the following streets: Bell, Burns, Calder, Campbell, Cargill, Clark, Craig and Inn; Keatoa Terrace, Macandrew St, Main Road; Ovenden and Reid streets; Royal Terrace, Ryley, Saunders and Stuart streets; Waikawa Road.

Before the planned outage, please make sure you disconnect all electrical equipment. As a general reminder, keep in mind that your power supply can be interrupted for several reasons, like bad weather.
Please make sure you have arrangements in place to manage in case of emergencies and, for your own safety, always treat all wiring and sockets as 'live'.
