Road works to begin in January on Chatham Street Waihola
Road Closures
Construction work of new retaining walls and footpath on Chatham Street in Waihola will begin from 9 January 2023.
The work is required due to instability of the bank on the corner of Chatham Street and Sheerness Street.
Chatham Street will be closed between Gull Street and Beacon Street, with no access from Sheerness St, until work is completed, expected to be late April.
Access will remain available to all affected properties on Chatham Street however detouring via Nore Street will be required for properties above Gull Street.
Our contractor, Clearwater Civil will be working to minimise disruption but some construction noise and dust will be unavoidable, they will do their best to reduce this.
Motorists are asked to extra care as there will be trucks and machinery operating.
In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed and will proceed when conditions permit.
