BOIL WATER NOTICE: Glenkenich Rural Water Scheme
A Boil Water Notice is now in place for users of the Glenkenich Rural Water Scheme.
Rainfall at the Pomahaka upper catchment has caused the river to become highly turbid and the filter at the Glenkenich Wastewater Treatment Plant is not able to treat this turbid water efficiently. Council is required to bypass the sand filter to maintain the supply. Chlorine will still be dosed continuously.
Those affected will need to boil any drinking water for one minute before drinking it. This includes any water that will be consumed, such as water to brush your teeth, food preparation and washing food that will not be cooked e.g. salad vegetables and ready-to-eat fruit.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
