Boil and Conserve Water Notice - Glenkenich Rural Water Scheme
A Boil and Conserve Water Notice is in place for users on the Glenkenich Rural Water Scheme.
This is due to rainfall at the Pomahaka catchment. There have been flash floods and the raw water has become highly turbid. Although the river level is dropping, with the forecast of rain and snow, Council has decided to bypass the sand filter to maintain the supply.
Consumers on this scheme will need to bring water to a rolling boil for one minute before drinking it. This includes any water that will be consumed, such as water to brush your teeth, food preparation and washing food that will not be cooked e.g. salad vegetables and ready-to-eat fruit.
Electric jugs with a cut-off switch can be used as long as they are full - allow the water to come to the boil and switch off. Once it’s cooled store the water in clean containers in your fridge.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
