Our Place: Balclutha is ready for public feedback - check out all the information here.

Tuesday, 13 December 2016

Council is working hard on its community plans for Balclutha, Waihola and Milton and we’re excited to announce that the Balclutha plan is now open for feedback.

We're calling the plans "Our Place" and they will help determine the projects and priorities for each community, as well as help put Council's Living and Working and Economic Development Strategies into action.

We've got some ideas we want to talk about - these centre on what Council can do with our key facilities and how we can work with the community to make things happen.

We’ve outlined four main topics; walking and cycling linkages, the town entrance and focal points, Balclutha’s War Memorial Hall and the parks and reserves.

Now, we want to know what you think of them, what've missed and what anything else you want to tell us!

The feedback we get from you will be your chance to help shape the future of the town and community you live in.

So, if you or your family cycle or walk in our district, play at our parks, shop in, drive through or live in our towns, then check out www.cluthadc.govt.nzand make an online submission.

Alternatively, keep an eye out for information and a feedback form in your letter-box or come and chat to us at one of the Our Place events that will be advertised over the summer months.

In the next couple of weeks we’re holding Café Conversations where you can stop by for a chat at the Gate Café from 11am-12pm on Friday 16 December and at Heart n Soul from 11am-12pm on Tuesday 20 December.

Following us on Facebook is another easy way to find out about Council news.

During the next couple of months we’re also running consultation processes for:

  • Draft Reserve Management Plans
  • District Plan Zoning Review of Balclutha and Milton
  • Outstanding Natural Landscapes Review

Again, all this information is on our website and will be available at Council’s service centres.

Lastly, we’re still working away on the community plans for Waihola and Milton – we’ll keep you posted about when these are ready for your feedback.

Mayor Bryan Cadogan urged people to help shape a brighter future for generations to come.

“Have you ever thought ‘there’s a better way to do this’ or ‘wow, we do that well, I’d hate to see it disappear’? If so, then now is the time to have your say.”

I can’t stress enough the importance of what we’re trying to achieve here, he added.

“It’s time we all talked about our vision and priorities for our community, listened to others and believed that, collectively, we can make a difference. I look forward to hearing from you. "

The Our Place: Balclutha plan is open for feedback until 27 February 2016.
