Clutha performing well on many fronts
The Clutha District has a strong sense of community and pride, low rates of unemployment and crime, and good access to quality health and education facilities, according to a recently adopted Council report.
The Clutha District Directions Community Outcomes Report 2008 provides a general overview of how we are performing as a district and shows general trends and states at the current point in time.
Community Outcomes are those overarching goals for the district which our communities told us were important during consultation back in 2005. The Community Outcomes report measures the progress of Council, and the contributions of many other organisations, towards achieving these goals by drawing on a wide range of statistics, research and other information.
Mayor Juno Hayes said that overall, the report revealed the district was performing well on many fronts.
“There is clearly agreement that the Clutha District is a great place to live, thanks in part to a strong sense of community, low rates of crime and unemployment, resident satisfaction with many core services and access to quality educational and health facilities,” Mayor Hayes said.
“There are, of course, areas where we can continue to improve. We live in a wonderful natural environment and there is great potential to increase opportunities in tourism here.”
