Tuesday 10 August 2010 Clutha celebrates Library Week August 16-22 Clutha District Libraries are celebrating Library Week 2010 with a series of events for book enthusiasts of all ages. Library Week 2010, August 16-22, is a week-long celebration of libraries and librarianship which recognises the important roles libraries play in our community. Council’s Library/Service Centre Manager Vicki Darling said there are a number of Library Week events planned in Clutha. Lunchtime book talks will be held as an opportunity for people to find out more about some of the less known adult fiction titles in the library’s collection as follows:
Ms Darling said people are welcome to bring their lunch along to hear brief talks on two books from each genre and suggestions for further reading. Meanwhile, all Clutha District libraries will be taking part in this year’s ‘New Zealand’s Biggest Story Time’ during the week. Special guests will be reading Mr Muggs by New Zealand author Dave Gunson as follows: Balclutha, Milton, Tapanui and Owaka libraries at 10am on Wednesday 18 August, and at Lawrence Library at 2pm on Thursday 19 August. The Balclutha Library will also be holding children’s book readings each weekday during Library Week at 3.45pm. “This is an opportunity for children to come along and hear more about the less well-known, but great fiction titles,” Ms Darling said.
