Vandalism of Council grounds disappoints
Clutha District Council says it is disappointed gardens outside its main administration office in Balclutha have been targeted by vandals.
Vandals tore up new plantings at the weekend and threw them onto the roof of the building.
Council’s Community Services Coordinator Loesje Morrison said vandalism would not be tolerated.
“We will be monitoring the area more closely in future and will seek to prosecute anyone found to be causing wilful damage,” Mrs Morrison said.
Mrs Morrison said children have previously been found on the roof of the building.
Anyone who sees people acting suspiciously around any Council building after-hours is asked to call Council’s after-hours number on 0800 801 350.
