Tuesday 4 August 2009 Balclutha pool maintenance continues NB: The pool reopened to normal hours on Monday 17 August 2009. Balclutha’s swimming pool will remain closed for the rest of this week due to the annual closedown for maintenance and repairs taking longer than first anticipated. The pool closes for a period each July-August to allow cleaning and other general maintenance to be carried out. The pool had been due to reopen yesterday, but will remain closed in the meantime until repairs to the pool boiler can be fully completed. Clutha District Council Swimming Pool Supervisor Holly Ramsay said Council apologises for the extended closure. However, it is important to ensure the pool is operating efficiently before reopening. Miss Ramsay said an opening date had not yet been set, but is likely to be some time next week. The public will be advised as soon as a date is confirmed. The gym at the pool will remain open as usual.
