Monday 18 May 2009 Tender accepted for construction of new stock water scheme Clutha District Council has accepted a $1.43 million (excl. GST) tender from Fulton Hogan Ltd for the construction of a new stock water scheme for the Waipahi area, west of Clinton. The contract was advertised during March following ongoing consultation with property owners in the scheme area. Several tenders were received and Council resolved to award the contract to Fulton Hogan at its meeting on 6 May. The Waipahi Area Stock Water Scheme Committee had earlier voted to accept the tender, subject to approval by a majority of scheme customers. Council Projects Engineer Peter Ross said a meeting of scheme customers then unanimously agreed to accept Fulton Hogan’s tender. Mr Ross said the Waipahi Area Stock Water Scheme Committee had also resolved that a total project budget of $1.57 million (excl. GST) be established, and that all costs of the scheme be met by those 33 properties which had signed up to use it. The committee also resolved to levy a rate of $157 (excl. GST) for the 2009-10 financial year. This was based on the scheme being up and running by the end of 2009 and was equal to half the estimated unit rate for a full year, he said. The scheme will have the capacity to provide about 85 litres of water per hectare, per day over the area of benefit. ENDS |
