Tuesday 3 March 2009 Development a priority for new Community Coordinator Clutha’s new Community Coordinator is looking forward to helping local community groups and organisations achieve their goals. Megan Burke, of Milton, has been employed by Council to the end of this year for the Community Coordinator role vacated by Irene Mosley in December. Ms Burke brings a diverse skillset to the Community Coordinator role, having previously worked in both recruitment and management roles. She was educated in Dunedin, graduating from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in 2005. She then spent two years working as a recruitment consultant in Dunedin, before managing a gym in Wanaka for the past year. “My recruitment background has helped me to develop a high level of interest in both people and business,” she said. “I understand this role will be both interesting and challenging and it’s something I’m eager to take on.” Ms Burke said one of the main attractions to the role was the opportunity to work with the various groups and organisations in the community whose contributions often went largely unnoticed. “I’m looking forward to assisting these groups in their endeavours and optimising the range of resources available to them,” she said. “I really admire the down-to-earth attitude people in the Clutha District possess and I’m looking forward to working with them.” Ms Burke will be based part-time at Development House.
