Wednesday 18 February 2009 Youth Council members sworn into office Members of the 2009 Clutha District Youth Council were sworn into office at their inaugural meeting for the year held on Monday 16 February. Mayor Juno Hayes welcomed the Youth Council members who then made their declarations in front of family and friends. Workplace representative Vicki Philip, who chaired the Youth Council in 2008, was re-elected to the position while Farryn Crawford (Blue Mountain College) was elected to the position of Deputy Chair. Youth Councillors also received presentations on what activities the Council is involved in, and on Council Standing Orders. They also confirmed a meeting schedule for the year, which will see meetings rotated around the five secondary school areas in the district beginning with the next meeting in Milton on 16 March. The Youth Council is a standing committee of Council, enabling it to regularly report to and make recommendations to the full Council. It has two members from each of the five secondary schools in the district, as well as two youth representatives from the workplace and two representatives from the full Council.
