The Clutha Agricultural Development Board [CADB] is a farmer owned and controlled body which promotes good practice and opportunities in farming as the lifeblood of the Clutha district. We are strongly supported by the Clutha District Council, Telford Rural Polytechnic, research scientists and many government and voluntary agencies.

It is bright ideas by farmers and their willingness to learn that has enabled the CADB to become a national leader in on-farm project management and technology transfer. Projects such as the use of willows for dairy effluent management, the Windows on Dairying and Gateway to Meat and Wool schools’ programmes , the Riparian Strip studies, the Know your Soils and Know your Plants seminars, and the popular Farm Safe courses are examples of activities run with enthusiasm and success.

Over the years Positively Clutha Women has grown and developed and is now seen as the main community development arm of this district. The committee is made up of representatives from many parts of the community which gives PCW huge networking opportunities and helps the group to know just what the community’s current needs are.

The Community Coordinator’s role is to liaise with the people of our community to help them develop programmes and projects that meet their needs and also benefit the community in some way.

Key purposes:

  • To encourage local solutions to local problems

  • To build voluntary sector partnerships

  • To provide a starting point for community  services

 Current projects:

  • The Recreation centre proposal

  • The Arthur Strang Reserve/ Blair Athol Walkway development

  • CBD development

  • A coordinated Youth focus for South Otago
