The new waste
management system is now operating throughout the Clutha
District and we intend to continue to monitor it and make
refinements where this will improve the service provided.
We are committed to implementing the new system and progressively
reducing the general rate input so that the system is funded by the users.
In March
2007,
Council
decided to put all our waste minimisation and recycling initiatives on hold
until such time that proposed law changes under the Waste Minimisation (Solids)
Bill are confirmed and we see what might be happening at a regional and national
level.
