The Otago Rural Fire Authority has issued a fire danger alert.
Gale NW Winds are forecast to hit Otago on Thursday
through to Friday. This will be coupled with high temperatures
and low relative humidity.
The fire danger will be EXTREME in Queenstown Lakes, Central
Otago and Waitaki Lakes. The fire danger will be 'VERY HIGH'
to 'EXTREME' in Coastal Otago including Oamaru and Dunedin.
Areas of Clutha may get some respite with winds forecast to be
strong to very strong arriving from the NE however a high
level of care is still required. What this means:

or a hot engine.

Restricted Fire Season Imposed
The Otago Rural Fire Authority has advised that from 17th
October at 6am, a Restricted Fire Season is imposed in the
Clutha, Coastal and Lakes zones.
