from Megan Burke, Community Coordinator May 2009 Reserve your date! Or at least put your mark on it. When groups in the community put hard work and careful planning into organising their fundraising event, just to have it clash with another group’s activity it can cause great frustration, not to mention lost opportunity. In an effort to encourage community groups to work more collaboratively, a district wide Events Diary is currently being designed. Megan Burke, the CDC Community Coordinator, is putting together a diary which will draw together the different versions of events calendars floating around the district. Accessible through the Clutha District Council and Clutha Country websites, and obtainable from i-Sites around Clutha, this diary will be both up-to-date and informative. “For this to work, it is essential for groups to come on board with the idea”, Megan says. “Groups will benefit from better communication and coordination; they can capitalise on opportunities instead of clashing with other groups’ equally important activities”. The launching of the diary is only a few weeks away, so watch this space for more news, or contact Megan at Development House (Tues, Wed and Friday, (03) 4184048).
