from Megan Burke, Community Coordinator May 2009 Groups registered with the Charities Commission must file an annual return within six months of balance date. The CDC Community Coordinator, Megan Burke, is sending out a reminder to all those with charitable entity status to remember their obligations. The Annual Return information helps the Commission monitor registered charities to ensure they continue to qualify for registration and to provide information to the public about how charities carry out their charitable purpose. As well as annual returns, groups are required to advise the Commission of changes to officers, and changes of details. For questions relating to these requirements, refer to the Clutha District Council’s Community Development webpage (www.cluthadc.govt.nz/community.htm), or go straight to the Charities Commission website (www.charities.govt.nz). Alternatively, contact Megan at Development House (Tues, Wed and Fri (03) 4184048). A training workshop around the Charities Commission is likely to be on the agenda in the coming months. Groups should contact Megan to register their interest. Click here to go back to Community Development homepage
